Here is a poem I have been thinking about. It is a bit more somber than the usual MCB fare, but we shall persevere.

W.H. Auden,

September 1, 1939

...I and the public know
What all schoolchildren learn,
Those to whom evil is done
Do evil in return...

Lest we should see where we are,
Lost in a haunted wood,
Children afraid of the night
Who have never been happy or good...

We must love one another or die.

You can read the full text here.

I love that last line. We must love one another or die. Originally, Auden wrote that line as "We must love one another and die."

I like the revised version better.

That is all.
