you should know something about me

When it comes to Mormonism, and feminism, I'm a radical.

And I really liked this profile on

Wow, go Heather!

I also think it's fantastic that of the few women that have professional video profiles on, several of them consider their labor force participation as central to their identity (Cassandra Barney, etc.). I love the presentation as women in the Church being more than one thing. (Gasp! Women can do two things?! Parenthood and career... just like men?! BOOM! {brain exploding}).

I teach Sociology of Gender at BYU. My mission is quite straightforward - to teach that feminism is not the "f" word on this campus. And, of course, to challenge the interpretations of the Family Proclamation. I love, love, love your blog. I wish we could sit next to each other in Relief Society. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for posting this! I, too, have been so impressed with some of the women profiles posted on the new website. I am slowly returning to activity after a 4-ish year hiatus which was partially precipitated by the huge emphasis on 19th century-esque gender roles. Since returning, I have been most impressed by the change in that attitude I've seen. I don't know if it was just the ward I was in, or the teachers I had, versus those I have now, but wow... what a difference! And I am so thankful. I have to admit, I was surprised to see this on a church sanctioned website considering her comment about the priesthood. Its mere presence up there speaks volumes to me about changing attitudes.
