So I had a baby last week.
Her name is Clara Alice, and we love her. When the doctor held her up over the surgical sheet I saw her tiny face and I started crying "that's my baby" over and over. Later, when Dan left with the baby to see her measured and weighed, I listened to her cry in the next room and felt so happy that she was here. She was here: earlier than we originally thought, and not in the way we expected, but she was here, and safe, and perfect.
After what felt like hours of listening to the doctors talk about sports while putting me back together, Dan brought her back and put her next to my head. I couldn't hold her yet, so I kept turning my face so I could feel her skin next to mine. I couldn't touch her enough.
After four and a half days in the hospital, we brought her home. I wake up every morning to a face that seems to change every day, which thrills me and breaks my heart simultaneously. I think she's pretty damn wonderful.
Spouseman thinks so too. Despite a very grumpy face from Clara.
PS Clara is her real name. I'm far too lazy and forgetful to make up a blog name.

She's beautiful :) Sending healing thoughts your way - sounds like you had a hell of a delivery.
Thank you! I think I am doing okay. I had a C-Section and everything is blurry, but I think it was more scary than painful.
Also, I stayed in the hospital so long because my insurance would pay for it. :)
Congratulations! She is one beautiful, lucky little lady.
That's wonderful! Congratulations, I'm so happy for you!
What a beautiful baby! Congratulations! I am also doubly impressed because I went to the hospital today and nearly had a panic attack because it took them 2 tries to stick an IV in me. + 1 million bravery points to you for what looks to me like the most terrifying thing on earth.
LOVE her!! Love that you blogged about her as well. You're already a killer mom. I know it.
Congratulations!
Congrats! I have been a reader and very occasional commenter on your blog for years. My first was delivered via cesarean and it was rough. Hope you are recovering well. She is a beautiful baby and her name is awesome!
Congratulations!!! I'm a proud c-sectioner. Don't let any crazy person tell you it's better any other way. They take CARE of you after surgeries like that. I stayed in the hospital as long as possible too. At one point I had a nurse bringing heated blankets and apple juice to me at 3:00 am. I promise you no one has done that in the two years since. And I'm more tired now than I was then!
She's gorgeous. Mazel tov.
She is so beautiful and you are such a sweet mama! I love the picture of her by your head-precious! Clara is a lucky girl to have suchawesome parents! I can't wait to get our little nuggets together!
congratulations! she is beautiful, you've done a wonderful job! and you really can see the changes in the shape of their heads from one day to the next. don't believe the old ladies who say it goes by too fast, you will enjoy every minute and some of them will take WAY too long. ;) Much love!
Congratulations! Beautiful!
Makes my arms ache for a tiny, newborn-smell, baby. Breath in that smell, and breath it deep. It goes away. Enjoy every exhausting frustrating moment to come because before you know it that itty bitty baby will be a toddling kiddo and you'll wonder what the heck happened to those moments when you stayed up all night swaying with her in your arms because that's what she wanted. Congratulations!
Woot, Woot! Yay for healthy babies! Congratulations.
I'd have stayed in the hospital a week if they'd let me. Being waited on is highly underrated. I'm glad you got so much of it.
I'm proud to "know" you and little Clara. Together, you'll be a force to be reckoned with.
Congrats! And what a lovely name.
Clara is lucky to have two awesome parents.

Oh my, she's perfect! Congratulations!
CONGRATULATIONS!! She is so beautiful!! I wish I was there to feed you snicky strawbs and hold your baby so you can nap (sounds selfless but it's a ploy to get snicky strawbs and to get to cuddle your BEAUTIFUL baby). I'm so happy for you! I hope everything is going well with the recovery. I'm sending you something. I hope your address is the same that it was at Christmas!
XOXOXOXOXO!
Congratulations! She is beautiful and it sounds like you are enjoying every minute of being with her :)

Aw! Congratulations! She's a cute little thing.
Such great news! I'm wishing you and your sweet family everything wonderful and fabulous at this tender time.
Trust your gut, attempt to get some sleep, and whenever someone vaguely says, "If there's anything I can do..." always answer with "Fantastic, I have a toilet that needs scrubbing."
Congratulations! She's beautiful and I love her name.

PS- I thought of you earlier when I saw that some kids at BYU had made an It Gets Better Video. Clearly there are a lot of awesome people out there who are gonna make the world an even better place for Clara to grow up in.

I'm due in November with our first and it's been really surreal to me. I had an amazing dream about a little boy last night and now this post today... It's starting to sink in and I can't wait to meet this little creature in my belly!
P.S. Love her name!
